Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION DONALD W. PARENTI, IN MEMORIAM WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called Donald W. Parenti from our midst on March 19, 2021; and WHEREAS, Donald W. Parenti graduated from Weber High School in Chicago, Illinois; and WHEREAS, after graduation, Donald Parenti joined the Illinois Army National Guard and served with honor for 37 years. He achieved the rank of Sergeant Major and served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 108th Medical Battalion; and WHEREAS, using the medical training he received in the Guard, Mr. Parenti went on to become an X-Ray and Clinical Laboratory Director; and WHEREAS, after a long career in the private sector, Donald Parenti took a position with the Illinois Department of Corrections and wrote and administered the Drug Control Program. PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

DONALD W. PARENTI, IN MEMORIAM

 

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called Donald W. Parenti from our midst on March 19, 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, Donald W. Parenti graduated from Weber High School in Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, after graduation, Donald Parenti joined the Illinois Army National Guard and served with honor for 37 years. He achieved the rank of Sergeant Major and served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 108th Medical Battalion; and

 

WHEREAS, using the medical training he received in the Guard, Mr. Parenti went on to become an X-Ray and Clinical Laboratory Director; and

 

WHEREAS, after a long career in the private sector, Donald Parenti took a position with the Illinois Department of Corrections and wrote and administered the Drug Control Program. He then became the Director of Programs for the Westside Community Correctional Center; and

 

WHEREAS, Donald Parenti was a third-generation, long-time resident of Elmwood Park. In 1989, he was elected as an Elmwood Park Village Trustee and served in that capacity for 16 years; and

 

WHEREAS, perhaps the roles Donald W. Parenti was most dedicated to and most proud of were that of husband to his late wife, Mary, and father to his twins, James and Lisa; and

 

WHEREAS, Donald Parenti was a devote Catholic who was very active in the St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, volunteering as a Eucharistic minister, member of the parish council and school board member; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Parenti was a warm and loving family member and friend, who enjoyed the company of others, time up at the lake and a good coffee cake. He will be sorely missed by his children, his extended family and his countless friends.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Donald W. Parenti; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and that a suitable copy of this resolution be tendered to James and Lisa Parenti so that his memory may be so honored.
