Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION ANGELO CAPUTO, IN MEMORIAM WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called Angelo Caputo from our midst on June 16, 2021; and WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo was the beloved husband of the late Romana (nee Berlen); and WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo was the devoted father of Nat, Caterina (Giuseppe) Ruffolo, and Antonella (Robertino) Presta, and was the loving grandfather of eleven and the great-grandfather of five; and WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo, founder of Caputo's Fresh Markets, was born January 1, 1932, in Mola Di Bari, a seaside village on Italy's southeast coast; and WHEREAS, the son of Natale and Caterina, Angelo Caputo was fortunate to have been brought up in a family environment with deep family values built on sacrifices and hard work; and WHEREAS, shortly after arriving to Chicago, Angelo Caputo enlisted in the Army. ANGELO CAPUTO, IN MEMORIAM

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called Angelo Caputo from our midst on June 16, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo was the beloved husband of the late Romana (nee Berlen); and

WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo was the devoted father of Nat, Caterina (Giuseppe) Ruffolo, and Antonella (Robertino) Presta, and was the loving grandfather of eleven and the great-grandfather of five; and

WHEREAS, in 1958, Angelo and Romana Caputo opened their first store, "Caputo's New Farm Produce and Italian Specialties," at the corner of Harlem and Wrightwood in Elmwood Park; and

WHEREAS, the Caputos stood out from their competition as they offered quality fruits and vegetables and the freshest meats and seafood at great prices combined with their unique personal service; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Angelo Caputo grew the family-owned business to employ more than 1,600 people at stores in Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elmwood Park, Hanover Park, Naperville, and South Elgin; and

WHEREAS, Angelo never fully retired, continuing to source new products and visit suppliers whenever he had the opportunity; and

WHEREAS, Angelo leaves a legacy of service and innovation, and Caputo's has won awards from the Illinois Food Retailers Association and from Progressive Grocer; and

WHEREAS, Angelo Caputo was a true legend who created opportunities for many and was renowned as an inspiration and a teacher.
