Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF HENRY REVIS, SR. WHEREAS, Henry Revis, Sr. was born on February 11, 1935, in Asheville, North Carolina to the late John Edmond Revis and Catherine Revis. He was the fifth of five children; and WHEREAS, Henry moved with his family to Evanston, Illinois. At an early age, he joined and was baptized at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Evanston, IL. He continued his spiritual up bringing by joining Fisher Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in 1960. He served as a member of the Church Trustee Board; and WHEREAS, Henry graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1954. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1954-1957. In 1955, while stationed at Fort Bragg, he met and married Gracie Lee Revis, the love of his life for 47 years. HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF HENRY REVIS, SR.

WHEREAS, Henry Revis, Sr. was born on February 11, 1935, in Asheville, North Carolina to the late John Edmond Revis and Catherine Revis. He was the fifth of five children; and

WHEREAS, Henry moved with his family to Evanston, Illinois. At an early age, he joined and was baptized at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Evanston, IL. He continued his spiritual up bringing by joining Fisher Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in 1960. He served as a member of the Church Trustee Board; and

WHEREAS, Henry graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1954. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1954-1957. In 1955, while stationed at Fort Bragg, he met and married Gracie Lee Revis, the love of his life for 47 years. Shortly after his discharge, he moved back to Evanston with his wife and three children, Myrel, Barbara and Henry, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Henry worked at the Evanston Post Office for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he continued to serve the community by working as a School Crossing Guard for the city of Evanston; and

WHEREAS, Henry was a loving and caring husband and father. He loved sports, bowling, traveling and was very active in his community. Henry coached Little League, and was a founding member of the Minus-five Club, that hosted many community events; and

WHEREAS, Henry joined the American Legion Post 42 in Evanston. He held many positions, including Past Commander of the American Legion District Department of Illinois and Past Commander of the Evanston American Legion Post 42; and

WHEREAS, Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Lee Revis; his father, John E. Revis; mother, Catherine Revis; siblings, Elizabeth, Cornelia, Lillian, and John Jr., and stepbrother John Thompson; and
