PROPOSED RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING PAULA MORALES ON THE OCCASION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are proud to congratulate Paula Morales, an esteemed Cook County 7th District resident, on the occasion of the celebration of her 100th birthday on March 2, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales was born in Rio Verde, San Luis Potosí, México on March 2, 1922; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales comes from a very close knit and loving family having 2 sisters and 3 brothers; and
WHEREAS, in 1955, Paula Morales and her family migrated to the U.S. and settled into “La Dieciocho” (the Pilsen neighborhood) where she has lived for 67 years; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales married the late Camerino Jesús Izaguirre and is the proud and loving mother to 7 children- 2 daughters and 5 sons; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales has over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales is passionate about making her family, friends, and neighbors happy by cooking for them. She is especially known for her delicious tamales around Christmas time; and
WHEREAS, at her 100 years, Paula Morales has some impressive pastimes. To this day, you can find her playing the mandolin and offering her family a concert in her living room; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales’s passion for music is unmatched. Not only does she play an instrument, but she can sing along to any mariachi band at any party; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales still continues to have great health despite her contracting the Covid-19 virus last year. She is often heard responding, “No me duele ni una uña.” (I have no pain, not even in a fingernail) when asked how she is feeling; and
WHEREAS, Paula Morales has demonstrated so much compassion, devotion, and strength. She is a highly esteemed member of the Pilsen community, and we thank her for 100 years of love to the world.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners joins with her family and friends in extending our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Paula Morales on her 100th birthday; that we commend her on achieving a long and fulfilling life and enriching the lives of everyone she has come into contact with her; and we wish her continued happiness and good health in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the text of this resolution be spread across the journal of proceedings of this honorable body and that a suitable copy hereof be presented to Paula Morales and her family as a token of our true admiration for her.
