Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION HONORING JOE PODLASEK FOR HIS SERVICE AT TRICKSTER CULTURAL CENTER WHEREAS, Joe Podlasek is an enrolled member and a citizen of the LCO Ojibwe Tribe in Northern Wisconsin; and WHEREAS, Joe moved in July 2012 full time to establish the Trickster Cultural Center, a 10,000 sq. ft. facility and nonprofit organization in Schaumburg, IL; and WHEREAS, Mr. Podlasek worked with government, civic, and community partners to raise awareness about issues facing the Native American Community; and WHEREAS, Joe worked with and on behalf of Native Veterans to advocate at all levels of government to pass legislation including honoring the Eagle Staff as the Nation's First Flag which Cook County passed a resolution to recognize in 2019; and WHEREAS, Joe additionally founded and led the annual National Gathering of Native American Veterans partnering with Cantigny and the McCormick Foundation; and WHEREAS, he worked with national and international military leader...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

A RESOLUTION HONORING JOE PODLASEK FOR HIS SERVICE AT TRICKSTER CULTURAL CENTER

 

WHEREAS, Joe Podlasek is an enrolled member and a citizen of the LCO Ojibwe Tribe in Northern Wisconsin; and

 

WHEREAS, Joe moved in July 2012 full time to establish the Trickster Cultural Center, a 10,000 sq. ft. facility and nonprofit organization in Schaumburg, IL; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Podlasek worked with government, civic, and community partners to raise awareness about issues facing the Native American Community; and

 

WHEREAS, Joe worked with and on behalf of Native Veterans to advocate at all levels of government to pass legislation including honoring the Eagle Staff as the Nation’s First Flag which Cook County passed a resolution to recognize in 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, Joe additionally founded and led the annual National Gathering of Native American Veterans partnering with Cantigny and the McCormick Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, he worked with national and international military leaders to have Native Americans Veterans and their contributions formally recognized; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Podlasek has set an example of civic engagement by arranging for Trickster Cultural Center to serve as an Early Voting location for Cook County elections; and

 

WHEREAS, Cook County and the Cook County Board of Commissioners have had the honor of working with Joe Podlasek and he has proved to be a wonderful partner; and

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby honor Joe Podlasek of Trickster Cultural Center upon the occasion of his retirement for his service to the Native Americans and all residents of Cook County; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Podlasek.
