PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF SCOTT SCHOELLER
WHEREAS, Scott Schoeller met an untimely death in a motorcycle accident in Texas on July 24, 2022. Scott was raised in Skokie by his parents Florence and Fred Schoeller, attending Cleveland School, Oakview (now McCracken) and Niles East High School; and
WHEREAS, Scott was an integral part of the Skokie community, having worked for multiple businesses including the Tool and Die Company, local Dominick's food Stores, and the Village o Skokie on public works crews and in the Sanitation Department; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, he started Contour Landscaping with a car and a trailer, working out of a neighbor's garage. Today, Contour has 30-35 employees and is based at 3501 Jarvis Avenue, in Skokie where it has been located for 25 years. Contour does landscape maintenance, design, construction, and both commercial and industrial snow removal. Scott is also a part owner of Evanston Organics; and
WHEREAS, Scott is the past President of the Illinois Professional Lawn Care Association, former Certified Arborist of the International Society of Arboriculture, Instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and past Introduction Leader for Landmark Education, a personal and professional training/development company; and
WHEREAS, Scott was a 40-year member of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, serving multiple years as a Board Member and the organizations current Board Chairman. He was a friend to many, living life to its fullest with an exuberance of energy and a gentle wonderful soul. He will be missed by many who considered him a dear friend, mentor, and an example of how to lead a life with integrity and honesty; and
WHEREAS, David Cohen, membership services manager of the Chamber, described Scott as "one of those sixties-seventies hippies turned business professional. He loved landscaping art. He was really soft spoken and easy going, very positive. He carried us through COVID. He'll be reme...
