Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE RETIREMENT OF CLINT BROWN FROM UNITED FOOD AND COMMERCIAL WORKERS UNION WHEREAS, Clint Brown joined the staff of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 881 in 1986 as a Union Representative. After ten years of serving members throughout Chicago, Clint began working as an Organizer; and, WHEREAS, He worked on the Borders Bookstore campaign, and that ultimately led to a Union contract for those workers, a first in the nation for that retailer; and, WHEREAS, In 1997, Clint was asked to be an Assistant Field Director, and then a year later, promoted to Field Director overseeing Local 881's field staff; and, WHEREAS, Clint has also served for decades as a Vice President on the Local 881 Executive Board; and, WHEREAS, After 21 years in the field working directly with Local 881 members, in 2007, Clint was asked to turn his attention to the work of politics and lobbying. HONORING THE RETIREMENT OF CLINT BROWN FROM UNITED FOOD AND COMMERCIAL WORKERS UNION

WHEREAS, Clint Brown joined the staff of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 881 in 1986 as a Union Representative. After ten years of serving members throughout Chicago, Clint began working as an Organizer; and,

WHEREAS, He worked on the Borders Bookstore campaign, and that ultimately led to a Union contract for those workers, a first in the nation for that retailer; and,

WHEREAS, In 1997, Clint was asked to be an Assistant Field Director, and then a year later, promoted to Field Director overseeing Local 881's field staff; and,

WHEREAS, Clint has also served for decades as a Vice President on the Local 881 Executive Board; and,

WHEREAS, After 21 years in the field working directly with Local 881 members, in 2007, Clint was asked to turn his attention to the work of politics and lobbying. Clint faithfully served as a Legislative and Political Representative for Local 881 for 15 years; and,

WHEREAS, Clint has also worked on many election races including Aldermanic, Cook County, State, Congressional, and in 2008, Clint helped in Ohio with coordinating of the historic efforts to elect the first African President Barrack Obama; and,

WHEREAS, Clint following in the tradition of one of his labor idols, Congressman/Labor unionist/Civic rights activist Charlie Hayes, who in the 1950s, raised funds for Martin Luther King Jr.'s voter registration drive in the South, and supported King in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the 1960s. Clint is a active member of the Minority Coalition of the UFCW International and has provided leadership as President of the A. Phillip Randolph Institute (APRI) Chicago Chapter as part of its community Voter registration, education and participation efforts; and,
