Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION RESOLUTION HONORING THE COMMUNITY WORK OF JEROME ALTMAN OF EXODUS INSTITUTE AND EXODUS DRUM AND BUGLE CORP. WHEREAS, In 2002, Jerome Altman and Ed James had an idea to start a youth organization. Their personal journey was a typical one of Black men in this country. These two travelled through and out of hardships, commonplace in this society's marginalized communities. It has been their strength of character, curious mind, and iron will, paired with deep compassion for their fellow man, that created and kept alive a small group, which became the Exodus Drum and Bugle Corps. WHEREAS , Mr. Jerome Altman who is the Executive Director of Exodus Institute and Exodus Drum and Bugle Corp. on the Westside of Chicago; and WHEREAS, Mr. Altman has had a vision to increase youth awareness for education as a means for optimizing their opportunities to having a greater career. RESOLUTION HONORING THE COMMUNITY WORK OF JEROME ALTMAN OF EXODUS INSTITUTE AND EXODUS DRUM AND BUGLE CORP.

WHEREAS, In 2002, Jerome Altman and Ed James had an idea to start a youth organization. Their personal journey was a typical one of Black men in this country. These two travelled through and out of hardships, commonplace in this society's marginalized communities. It has been their strength of character, curious mind, and iron will, paired with deep compassion for their fellow man, that created and kept alive a small group, which became the Exodus Drum and Bugle Corps.

WHEREAS , Mr. Jerome Altman who is the Executive Director of Exodus Institute and Exodus Drum and Bugle Corp. on the Westside of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Altman has had a vision to increase youth awareness for education as a means for optimizing their opportunities to having a greater career. He has done this by developing their skills, talents, and knowledge by partnering with community stakeholders within the Chicago community; and

WHEARAS, MR. Altman seeks to provide at-risk youth with social, educational, physical, cultural and spiritual support through the access of various services. Exodus' projects partner with schools, churches, Department of Human Services, Department of Children and Family Services and other youth centers; and
WHEARAS, It is Mr. Altman's mission to prevent youth and young adults from systemic institutionalized incarceration and becoming
part of the juvenile justice system; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Altman has trained more than 600 youth in the Arts. He has just been approved for a grant to recruit more youth; and

WHEARAS, Mr. Altman's organization Exodus has been in the community for many years participating in parades and communities event; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County President and Board of Commissioners recognize his exemplary work and express to him sincerest thanks and appreciation for his many contribution...
