Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION HONORING REBECCA RESMAN, FOUNDER OF CHICAGO FAMILY BIKING, FOR HER LEADERSHIP IN BIKE SAFETY IN COOK COUNTY WHEREAS, Rebecca Resman, a resident of the 12th District of Cook County, has personally and professionally advocated for safer streets for over 15 years, focusing on youth biking, assisting bike crash victims and co-leading the Roscoe Village Kidical Mass bike ride since 2013; and WHEREAS, while Rebecca Resman has enjoyed biking since childhood, she fell in love with riding in Chicago as a college student with limited transportation options for getting around the city. Knowing the joy and convenience cycling brings to her life, Rebecca Resman is committed to encouraging others to bike while making it safer for them to do so; and WHEREAS, in 2015, Rebecca Resman founded Chicago Family Biking, a coalition of parents, community organizers, and educators who seek to empower families to bike. A RESOLUTION HONORING REBECCA RESMAN, FOUNDER OF CHICAGO FAMILY BIKING, FOR HER LEADERSHIP IN BIKE SAFETY IN COOK COUNTY

WHEREAS, Rebecca Resman, a resident of the 12th District of Cook County, has personally and professionally advocated for safer streets for over 15 years, focusing on youth biking, assisting bike crash victims and co-leading the Roscoe Village Kidical Mass bike ride since 2013; and

WHEREAS, while Rebecca Resman has enjoyed biking since childhood, she fell in love with riding in Chicago as a college student with limited transportation options for getting around the city. Knowing the joy and convenience cycling brings to her life, Rebecca Resman is committed to encouraging others to bike while making it safer for them to do so; and

WHEREAS, in 2015, Rebecca Resman founded Chicago Family Biking, a coalition of parents, community organizers, and educators who seek to empower families to bike. With the help of countless volunteers, the group engages thousands of people online and host events throughout the year, such as Chicago's Kidical Mass rides, where families come together to bike through their neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Chicago Family Biking advocates for safe biking by providing online resource guides and educational tools on how to ride safely with children and teaching children how to ride on their own; and

WHEREAS, the group also works to improve biking conditions for all Chicagoans by advocating for better biking infrastructure, traffic calming measures, and holding driver's accountable for dangerous behavior; and

WHEREAS, Chicago Family Biking has hosted hundreds of events in more than 16 neighborhoods in Chicago, and nearby suburbs, all open to the public and free to attend. Events have included family bike rides, family bike campouts, Bike to School Day and Chicago Family Bike Fest; and
