WHEREAS, on March 1st, 2023, 8th District Police Officer Andr?s Mauricio V?squez Lasso was fatally shot while responding to a domestic incident in the city's Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side of Chicago, and

WHEREAS, Officer V?squez Lasso immigrated to Chicago from Colombia as a teenager eager to provide a better life for his mother, and

WHEREAS, the 32-year-old Officer V?squez Lasso was active on social media, often sharing his thoughts about his life, once writing that he might not change the world, but he knew he could change the world of every person through his actions, and

WHEREAS, Officer V?squez Lasso's loss is mourned by his beloved wife Milena Estepa, his family, friends, coworkers, and the community he selflessly served and protected.
