PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION HONORING COUNTY MAYO IRELAND
WHEREAS, Mayo Day is a longstanding tradition in County Mayo, Ireland, celebrating its rich culture, heritage, and community; and
WHEREAS, on May 4th, 2024, the 10th anniversary of Mayo Day will be celebrated with a flagship international event at Gaelic Park in Chicago, Cook County; and
WHEREAS, this event will showcase Mayo's music, arts, crafts, food, and family-friendly activities, fostering a sense of connection for those with Mayo heritage in Cook County; and
WHEREAS, the event provides an opportunity to celebrate Mayo pride, connect with fellow Mayoans, and strengthen cultural ties within Cook County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that May 4th, 2024, be officially proclaimed as Mayo Day in Cook County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Cook County encourages all residents to participate in the Mayo Day festivities at Gaelic Park and celebrate the vibrant culture and heritage of County Mayo.
