PROPOSED RESOLUTION
PROPOSED RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MINAL DESAI ON HER APPOINTMENT AS SKOKIE VILLAGE CLERK
WHEREAS, Minal and her husband and children have lived in Skokie for 35 years; and
WHEREAS, Minal has proven professional experience and diverse community relationships to educate, engage, and empower Skokie residents and ensure that the Village of Skokie is an equitable and welcoming place to all residents; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as a member and secretary of the Skokie Kiwanis Club from 2006-2009; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as the Executive vice president of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce from 2006-2009 and built relationships with members and the business community; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as the John Middleton School Wellness Committee from 2016-2018 where she promoted health and wellness; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as the Skokie Baseball and Softball Board Member from 2016-2020 and was an ambassador for the organization's mission and goals; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as a Board Member for the Caring Hearts Grant Committee since 2016 raising funds to benefit student educational programs; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as the School District 219 Booster Club, PTO and MPAC members to engage in collaborative initiative sand events to advocate for the school community; and
WHEREAS, Minal Desai was elected to the Skokie Park District Board of Park Commissioners in 2019; and
WHEREAS, Minal served as Vice President of the Skokie Board of Park Commissioners since 2023;
WHEREAS, Minal serves the community with dedication, kindness, and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Minal was sworn in on April 15, 2024 as the first Asian American woman Clerk for the Village of Skokie; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby congratulates Minal Desai on her historic appointment; and
