Jakes, who nicknamed his wife “Sweet Lorraine"; and, WHEREAS, after a 25-year career in early childhood education, Mrs. Jakes went back to school along with her husband to study Christian education and graduated with a certificate of studies in Christian Education from the Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Jakes, an accomplished pianist, played in the Baptist church for nearly 70 years; and, WHEREAS, Mrs. Jakes gave her life to Christ when she was just 12 years old and began playing for Mount Union Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. The couple later settled down after her husband became one of the first recipients of the GI Bill and obtained a loan to buy a home in Hinsdale in 1948; and, WHEREAS, Eileen Quinn went to high school at the Academy of our Lady, later known as Longwood Academy, in Chicago.
