WHEREAS, when formed in 1831, Cook County’s original boundaries included all of McHenry, Lake, DuPage and parts of Kane and Will. The other counties were separately created between 1836 and 1839, leading to Cook County’s current boundaries; and

WHEREAS, the chapter has taken on various programs and projects such as voter registration, Thanksgiving basket giveaways, and various successful fundraisers; and
WHEREAS, significant contributions have been made to a number of organizations through their efforts. Specifically, the YMCA building fund, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the YMCA Youth and Government Organization, and the United Negro College Fund. The chapter also offers support to work with unwed mothers offering health options during their Health Fairs.
