WHEREAS, in addition to honoring the day, this small group of residents wanted to encourage kids to get involved; and
WHEREAS, since kids have expertise in all things lemonade, the group decided to raise funds through a lemonade stand, forming LemonAid with the motto “Kids Helping Kids”; and
WHEREAS, after raising $400 that first year selling lemonade and homemade treats, LemonAid has gone on to raise more than $220,000; and
WHEREAS, keeping true to its motto, LemonAid’s fundraising beneficiaries have included Hephzibah Children’s Association, the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry, Parents Allied with Children, Teachers for Tomorrow, Shriners Hospital for Children, and Maywood Fine Arts, to name a few; and

WHEREAS, Bib worked at The Cook County Probate Court as a Clerk for 37 years; and,
WHEREAS, Bib was an active member of the Grant Memorial AME Church located at 4017 S. Drexel Blvd under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Virgil M. Woods; and

WHEREAS, Former Evanston Alderman of the 9th Ward Davidson “Dave” Ream died on August 21, 2017 at the age at age 80; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Ream left behind a lasting legacy of positive change that is still visible today in the 9th ward of Evanston. In the 1970’s Dave Ream became a community activist. In addition to other issues he was particularly concerned with zoning issues impacting the 9th ward. Later, in 1983, he was elected to be one of the two alderman of the 9th Ward. Along with the other 9th Ward alderman, Donald Borah, the two oversaw the modernization of the city through the deep tunnel and new street lights. His leadership led to the construction of the city’s service center for garbage trucks along with countless other modernization projects. The residents of the 9th ward were served tirelessly by Dave Ream; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mautone had seven siblings, 3 brothers and 4 sisters: Louis, Mary, Patsy, Margaret, Dominic, Concetta, Carolyn and Philip; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Claude Porter & Lady Bishop Earnestine Porter of Proviso Missionary Baptist Church are celebrating 45 years of service to the Lord and to the community; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. Claude Porter has served as Founder and Senior Pastor of Proviso Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, PLCCA has grown to include more than 30 programs and serves more than 30,000 families annually; and
WHEREAS, the congregation of Proviso Missionary Baptist Church, both past and present, honors and celebrates Bishop Dr. Claude & Lady Bishop Earnestine Porter’s 45th anniversary of service; and

PARK FOREST POLICE OFFICER TIM JONES
WHEREAS, on May 19, 2016, 25 year old Park Forest Police Officer Tim Jones was shot in the head while responding to a burglary; and
WHEREAS, the Park Forest Police Department has honored Ofc.Tim Jones as its 2016 Officer of the Year. He has also received Medal of Valor and the Combat Star; and
WHEREAS, after spending exactly one year in the Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, IL Officer Jones has returned home to be with his family; and
WHEREAS, Officer Jones’ family, including his father, William Jones, Chief of the Country Club Hills Police Department, have been a continuous source of strength and support during his recovery; and
WHEREAS, Officer Jones has maintained his strength, courage, and his determination to serve others; and
WHEREAS, Park Forest Police Commander Lee Elliot describes Officer Jones as “the bravest individual I've ever met,” and describes his efforts in his rehabilitation as a testament to his dedication, and to his strength; and

WHEREAS, Pilgrim Baptist Church of South Chicago is celebrating its 100th anniversary as a spiritual beacon on Chicago’s south side; and
WHEREAS, Pilgrim Baptist Church of South Chicago will celebrate this milestone with dinner and entertainment on Friday, September 22nd, 2017, and
WHEREAS, Pastor Corwin Lasenby, Sr., his wife Tracey, and their three children: Ashley, Corwin, Jr. and Cody continue to serve other families and individuals in need; and
WHEREAS, the members of Pilgrim Baptist Church of South Chicago’s congregation, both past and present, also deserve kudos during this joyous centennial celebration.
