RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING SUPERINTENDENT MICHAEL EADDY ON HIS SELECTION AS SUCCESSOR TO THE JURISDICTIONAL BISHOP OF THE FIRST ECCLESIASTICAL JURISDICTION OF ILLINOIS, CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST

 

WHEREAS, Superintendent Michael Eaddy has faithfully served as pastor of People’s Church of the Harvest Church of God in Christ in Chicago, Illinois, for more than three decades, demonstrating steadfast spiritual leadership, visionary administration, and a deep commitment to ministry, community development, and service to the people of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished ministry, Superintendent Eaddy has dedicated his life to strengthening families, empowering youth, restoring lives, and advancing faith-based initiatives that provide education, workforce development, re-entry services, housing opportunities, and essential resources to individuals and families across the City of Chicago and throughout Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, Superintendent Eaddy has served the Church of God in Christ with excellence in numerous leadership capacities, including Jurisdictional Secretary, Public Relations Director, District Superintendent, Administrative Assistant, and Chairman of national leadership bodies, earning the respect of clergy and congregations across the country for his integrity, wisdom, and commitment to service; and

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Ocie Booker has faithfully led the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois, Church of God in Christ, providing spiritual guidance, organizational strength, and dedicated service to the Church and community, and continues to be recognized for his leadership and enduring contributions to the faith community; and

 

WHEREAS, following years of faithful service and leadership, Superintendent Michael Eaddy has been selected to serve as the successor to the Jurisdictional Bishop of the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois, Church of God in Christ, a sacred responsibility that reflects the trust, confidence, and affirmation of the Church in his leadership, vision, and lifelong dedication to ministry; and

 

WHEREAS, this selection represents a significant milestone in the life of the Church and the broader faith community, affirming Superintendent Eaddy’s readiness to shepherd pastors, congregations, and communities with humility, faith, and a continued commitment to service;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby congratulate Superintendent Michael Eaddy on his selection as the successor to the Jurisdictional Bishop of the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois, Church of God in Christ, and commend him for his faithful service, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to ministry and community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners extends its best wishes to Superintendent Michael Eaddy, his wife Missionary Christine Eaddy, their family, and the entire First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Illinois, as he prepares to assume this sacred mantle of leadership, and expresses continued respect and appreciation for the ongoing service and legacy of Bishop Ocie Booker; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Superintendent Michael Eaddy as a symbol of honor, recognition, and the highest esteem of the President and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
