PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LEGACY OF ST. HILARY CATHOLIC SCHOOL FOR ITS DECADES OF FAITH, SERVICE, AND EDUCATION TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, since its founding in 1928, St. Hilary Catholic School, located at 5614 N. Fairfield Avenue in Chicago's North Park neighborhood and Cook County’s 10th District, has served as a cornerstone of Catholic education, providing a nurturing environment where faith, family, and academics thrived; and
WHEREAS, the school was staffed by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica, who played a pivotal role in the institution's growth and success; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of dedicated principals such as Ms. Kristine Gritzmacher, the school maintained a commitment to academic excellence and moral development; and
WHEREAS, the school offered a comprehensive curriculum that included arts, music, and athletics, fostering well-rounded individuals; and
WHEREAS, the school community engaged in various outreach programs, including food drives, youth activities, and support for older adults, embodying the teachings of Christ through action; and
WHEREAS, the legacy of St. Hilary Catholic School continues to inspire and influence the community, with alumni and parishioners carrying forward the values instilled during their time at the institution; and
WHEREAS, Cook County recognizes that institutions like St. Hilary’s form the bedrock of neighborhood strength-offering spiritual growth, social support, and a place where values of kindness, service, and justice are lived every day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners and Commissioner Bridget Gainer do hereby honor St. Hilary Catholic School for its extraordinary contributions to the 10th District and the greater Cook County community through nearly 100 years of unwavering service, faith, and education; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the leadership, faculty, alumni, and parishioners of St. Hilary Catholic School as a lasting tribute to their legacy and profound impact on generations of families.
