PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF JULIA MAE HUDSON MONTGOMERY
WHEREAS, Julia Mae Hudson Montgomery migrated to Chicago, IL along with family from Canton Mississippi. She attended Chicago Public Schools. Julia graduated from the prestigious Dunbar Vocational High School
in 1957 as a cosmetologist, after premier training in Beauty Culture; and
WHEREAS, ,Her entrepreneur spirit and her inherent culinary ability brought about her catering business, "Taste N See" Catering Service. Her business allowed Julia's catering to serve great people in the Chicago Community such as, the Late Dr. Herbert D. Odom, Rev. Jessie Lewis Jackson, and
Alvin J. Boutte, CEO of Independence Bank; and
WHEREAS, ,Julia's service to her Almighty God was almost always through helping others. She served at the Pleasant Gift M.B. Church for over 50 years, organized by her Maternal Grandfather Rev. Clarence L. Buckner. Her youth ministry included her touching the many lives of young people by taking them skating and traveling to Progressive National Baptist Convention throughout the nation. Singing in the choir, fundraising, church kitchen and Pastoral Care just to name a few; and
WHEREAS,, She eventually became First Lady of True Light Baptist Church, working alongside of her husband, the late Rev. Douglas Montgomery; and
WHEREAS, Julia’s love and passion for family, caused her to support siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins through education and career endeavors. Last but not least, being the matriarch of the Johnson Buckner Hudson Wiggins(JBHW) Family Reunion was her greatest passion. Keeping the family together and traveling around the country annually hosted by families in various states; and
WHEREAS, Julia was a great citizen of Chicago, IL and the United States of America. Her walk with Christ Jesus and her prayer life endured to the end of her life; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, By the Cook County Board of Commissioners and President Preckwinkle hereby hold their reverence in honor of the life of Julia Mae Hudson Montgomery as they offer their deepest condolences to her friends, family, and communities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Julia Mae Hudson Montgomery as an honorable expression of appreciation for her life and work.
