Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING 10th DISTRICT RESIDENT REGGIE GRIFFIN FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH WHEREAS, during Black History Month 2024, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer has nominated Reginald "Reggie" E. Griffin as a distinguished Black leader in the 10th District; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin, a lifelong Chicagoan and the oldest of nine children, grew up on Chicago's South Side and attended Englewood High School before moving to the North Side in 1972 and residing in the Uptown neighborhood; and WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was the founding member of the Edgewater Community Council, Care for Real, and the Edgewater Historical Society, to provide resources and support to provide a better quality of life for community members; and WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was a dedicated, respected employee of the City of Chicago, working in the graphics and reproduction department, from which retired; and WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin has been a pillar of the community, a respected leader, ne...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING 10th DISTRICT RESIDENT REGGIE GRIFFIN FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

 

WHEREAS, during Black History Month 2024, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer has nominated Reginald “Reggie” E. Griffin as a distinguished Black leader in the 10th District; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin, a lifelong Chicagoan and the oldest of nine children, grew up on Chicago’s South Side and attended Englewood High School before moving to the North Side in 1972 and residing in the Uptown neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was the founding member of the Edgewater Community Council, Care for Real, and the Edgewater Historical Society, to provide resources and support to provide a better quality of life for community members; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was a dedicated, respected employee of the City of Chicago, working in the graphics and reproduction department, from which retired; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin has been a pillar of the community, a respected leader, neighbor and friend to all. Fittingly, he was honored as the Edgewater Historical Society’s Living Treasure Award in 2023; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, hereby honor, and recognize Mr. Griffin for his work on behalf of the residents of Cook County during Black History Month.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be rendered to Mr. Griffin to commemorate this honor.
