Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A TRIBUTE TO JAZZ LEGEND ISAAC "REDD" HOLT FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF PERFORMING JAZZ WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt is a native of the state of Mississippi, he soon became a resident of Illinois at the age of eight when his parents moved to Chicago. Isaac shares his life with his wife Marylean who was his childhood sweetheart, his three sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt was mesmerized by the trap drums at the age of six after seeing a minstrel show, and vowed to his parents that he too would play the trap drums; and WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt would bang on any pot, pan, top, bottle, glass, table, back of chair or any house ware item that would produce a musical sound that fascinated him. A TRIBUTE TO JAZZ LEGEND ISAAC "REDD" HOLT FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF PERFORMING JAZZ

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt is a native of the state of Mississippi, he soon became a resident of Illinois at the age of eight when his parents moved to Chicago. Isaac shares his life with his wife Marylean who was his childhood sweetheart, his three sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt was mesmerized by the trap drums at the age of six after seeing a minstrel show, and vowed to his parents that he too would play the trap drums; and

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt grew older and went on to Study percussion at the Chicago School of Music, the Cosmopolitan School of Music, performed in his high school band for four years, and in the United States Army's 4th Infantry, 12th Regimental Band; and

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt was a member of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. A group that achieved a gold record, and won a Grammy Award for "In Crowd"; and

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt later formed the group Young-Holt Unlimited that performed internationally in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. The group performed for eight years in top jazz clubs, at concerts, and producing great Jazz albums; and

WHEREAS, Young-Holt Unlimited was awarded a Gold Record for their recording of "Soulful Strut"; and

WHEREAS, Isaac "Redd" Holt has over 50 years of dedication to the music of jazz. Performing in concert with other jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Nancy Wilson, Max Roach, Cannonball Adderley, B. B. King, Aretha Franklin, Tito Puente, Oscar Brown, Jr., James Brown, Nina Simone, and many others; and
