PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER JOHN BARTHOLOMEW
WHEREAS, John G. Bartholomew faithfully served the Chicago Police Department for 10 years and 11 months; and
WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew's life was tragically taken in the line of duty on Saturday, April 25, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was born in Evanston, IL on April 21, 1988 to George and Kiki Bartholomew, nee Kutulas. He was the devoted grandson of the late James and Patricia Bartholomew and the late Rev. Fr. John and Presbytera Angie Kutulas. John was the dear brother of James Bartholomew and Paula (Jonathan) Mueller. He also is also survived by many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his beloved wife, Renee Bartholomew (nee Limbers), and his three children, Oliver Buffurine, Miles Buffurine, and Sophia Bartholomew. John will be remembered as a devoted family man whose life was defined by love, loyalty, and service; and
WHEREAS, Officer Bartholomew was always the first to step in and help others, known for his generosity and willingness to give without hesitation. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, including his love for good food, his admiration for Batman, and his unmistakable, contagious laugh that could light up any room; and
WHEREAS, he was deeply dedicated to his work as a Chicago police officer, serving his community with honor, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty. With a strong knowledge of history and a passion for sharing it, John left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby honors the life, service, and sacrifice of Police Officer John G. Bartholomew, and expresses its deepest gratitude for his dedication to the people of the City of Chicago Cook County; and
