Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING SARAH'S CIRCLE FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING SERVICES TO WOMEN AND HELPING WOMEN TO PERMANENTLY END THEIR HOMELESSESS WHEREAS, Sarah's Circle offers a full continuum of services today and focuses on transitioning women who are homeless into permanent housing; and, WHEREAS, Sarah's Circle envisions a safe and secure home for every woman in Chicago; and, WHEREAS, in 1979, Sarah's Circle was started to address the plight of women who were suffering from homelessness; and, WHEREAS, Sarah's Circle was started with compassion and spirit of service, and the agency continues to be a safe, welcoming space for women experiencing homelessness; and, WHEREAS, Sarah's Circle provides resources and services to women so they can access shelter, food, showers, community and more; and, WHEREAS, after over 40 years of service, Sarah's Circle is still growing to meet the needs of women and is working to meet the challenge of homelessness with a new facility that wi...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING SARAH’S CIRCLE FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING SERVICES TO WOMEN AND HELPING WOMEN TO PERMANENTLY END THEIR HOMELESSESS

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle offers a full continuum of services today and focuses on transitioning women who are homeless into permanent housing; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle envisions a safe and secure home for every woman in Chicago; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1979, Sarah’s Circle was started to address the plight of women who were suffering from homelessness; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle was started with compassion and spirit of service, and the agency continues to be a safe, welcoming space for women experiencing homelessness; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle provides resources and services to women so they can access shelter, food, showers, community and more; and,

 

WHEREAS, after over 40 years of service, Sarah’s Circle is still growing to meet the needs of women and is working to meet the challenge of homelessness with a new facility that will provide 38 units of permanent supportive housing, more program space and an upgraded space for interim Housing Program; and,

 

WHEREAS, the new facility is expected to open this year, in the fall of 2020; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle utilizes the Housing First model to eliminate barriers to entry and uses a trauma-informed approach; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sarah’s Circle staff use best practices and provide case management supportive services to help women achieve their goals in the following areas: welcome all women with safety, respect and community, support women’s growth in all aspects of wellness, and help each woman find her home; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the residents of Cook County honor Sarah’s Circle for their commitment to providing service to women and helping women to permanently end their homelessness.
