PROPOSED RESOLUTION
COMMENDING GLOBAL MIXX ON THE SUCCESS OF THE 8TH ANNUAL MUSIC AND FILM FORUM
WHEREAS, Global Mixx is a Music and Film Forum created in 2005 by Mary Datcher, Founder and Executive Director to familiarize aspirant artists with the entertainment business, available resources within the music, creative media and marketing community. Global Mixx partners with organizations, community leaders and industry professionals to provide young hopefuls an opportunity to showcase and discuss their talents and ambitions while learning about the industry; and
WHEREAS, In August of this year Global Mixx partnered with ParentPowerChicago(r), a nonprofit dedicated to helping parents help their children improve their learning skills. This partnership allowed children and young adults to explore their cultural interest by presenting the 2014 entertainment conference "Generation Next" August 15th through August 17th bringing understanding to the importance of music and entertainment revealing the benefit of training programs, entertainment studies, public awareness campaigns and media outreach of the Hip Hop culture, R & B, House, Gospel and Reggaecon genres; and
WHEREAS, Hip Hop is a broad conglomerate of artistic forms that originated within a marginalized subculture, it now resonates with urban and suburban communities throughout the world with millions of fans and is recognized by National Geographic as the worlds favorite youth culture. Hip Hop is viewed as the most important melding of black and white cultures that has ever existed in the United States influencing style and behavior resulting in a four billion dollar fashion industry; and
