PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE OF ROBERT W. PIERSON
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom has called Robert W. Pierson from our midst on June 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Robert (Bob) Pierson was born on June 18, 1941 in the South Suburbs where Bob resided his entire lifetime; and,
WHEREAS, Bob was initiated into IBEW Local 9 on December 1, 1966; and,
WHEREAS, due to his dedication and loyalty to Local 9, to the Brotherhood and for the betterment of the IBEW, Bob was appointed as assistant business manager in 1980; and,
WHEREAS, Bob’s efforts and tireless labor to improve the lives of IBEW members of Local 9 earned him the respect of labor leaders across Northern Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, Bob earned the privilege to serve on the Executive Board of the Chicago Federation of Labor and the Executive Board of the State Conference of IBEW; and,
WHEREAS, Bob was appointed to the IBEW International Executive Council by IBEW President Edwin Hill on October 2005; and,
WHEREAS, on November 1, 2005 Bob was appointed the Chairman of the International Executive Council; and,
WHEREAS, Bob was twice reelected to the International Executive Council and served as Chairman of the International Executive Council of the IBEW is a lasting testament to his devotion, tireless work and the commitment of Bob for the best interest of members of Local 9 as well as the entire Brotherhood; and,
WHEREAS, Bob was married to his Shirley and raised 4 children, Wendy, Gary, Chad, and Todd; and,
WHEREAS, the people of Cook County and labor members commend Bob on his many accomplishments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Robert Pierson and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss.
