Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING EDWARD W. PAESEL WHEREAS, in 2016 Edward W. Paesel retired as the executive director of South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association; and WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has served as executive director of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association for the past seventeen years and served his home community of Sauk Village, Illinois for twenty-two years as mayor; and WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has promoted cooperation and regional pride with mayors and managers throughout the Southland of Cook County. The work of the SSMA under Ed Paesel was cited as exemplary in a 2013 Brookings Institution book "Confronting Suburban Poverty in America;" and WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has served on the boards of Metra, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning(CMAP) and as a Commissioner for the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel, despite his retirement continues his work in Cook County's Southland communities; and WHEREAS, the Cook County Boar...

HONORING EDWARD W. PAESEL

 

WHEREAS, in 2016 Edward W. Paesel retired as the executive director of South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has served as executive director of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association for the past seventeen years and served his home community of Sauk Village, Illinois for twenty-two years as mayor; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has promoted cooperation and regional pride with mayors and managers throughout the Southland of Cook County. The work of the SSMA under Ed Paesel was cited as exemplary in a 2013 Brookings Institution book “Confronting Suburban Poverty in America;” and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel has served on the boards of Metra, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning(CMAP) and as a Commissioner for the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Paesel, despite his retirement continues his work in Cook County’s Southland communities; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners welcomes Kristi DeLaurentiis as the new director of the SSMMA. Ms. DeLaurentiis brings a high level of experience in planning and community development and, as a Lansing resident, has volunteered with the Illinois Nature Preserve Commission and the American Cancer Society Illinois Division and has served on the Governors State University Board of Trustees; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, express profound gratitude to Edward W. Paesel for his many years of professional and personal contributions to the people of Cook County.
