Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION CELEBRATING CARE FOR REAL'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY WHEREAS, Care for Real provides food for neighbors to prepare more than 1.62 million meals each year and offers a free clothes closet, pet food pantry and support services; and WHEREAS, Care for Real was established in 1971 by Rev. William Johnson of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement, Rabbi Herman Schaalman of Emanuel Congregation and other members of the Edgewater Clerical Rabbinical Association, now known as Edgewater Community Religious Association (ECRA); and, WHEREAS, between January 2021 and March 2021, Care for Real's impact has been 12,886 food pantry visits, 5,657 volunteer hours, 333,463 meals on the table, and 458 pets fed; and, WHEREAS, over the past several months, they have seen a 157% increase in service since the pandemic; and, WHEREAS, Care for Real's serves the Edgewater and Rogers Park community; and, WHEREAS, this year, Care for Real is celebrating its 50 Years of Caring. WHEREAS, Care for Real provides food for neighbors to prepare more than 1.62 million meals each year and offers a free clothes closet, pet food pantry and support services; and

 

WHEREAS, Care for Real was established in 1971 by Rev. William Johnson of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement, Rabbi Herman Schaalman of Emanuel Congregation and other members of the Edgewater Clerical Rabbinical Association, now known as Edgewater Community Religious Association (ECRA); and,
