HOFFMAN ESTATES TRUSTEE MICHAEL J. GAETA, IN MEMORIUM

 

WHEREAS, former Hoffman Estates Trustee Michael Gaeta was a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and colleague; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was the beloved husband of his wife, Johanna Gaeta; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was the proud father to Michael Gaeta, Michelle Tomsovic, and Matthew Gaeta; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was the cherished grandfather of Michael Gaeta, Samantha Jo Ondrovic, Tommy Tomsovic, and Nikki Tomsovic; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was the beloved great grandfather of Kayleigh, Payton Ann, Michael, Owen and Evan; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and went on to later obtain an associate degree from Fenn Community College in Cleveland; and

 

WHEREAS, after high school he joined the U.S. Army, during which time he was stationed in West Germany for two and a half years, and later went on to be a longtime member of the Civil Air Patrol, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, put in charge of search and rescue missions, and eventually owned an airplane and was an instrument-rated pilot; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael was elected to the Hoffman Estates Village Board in 2013 and won reelection in 2017 and 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, as Trustee, he served as chairman of the Public Health and Safety Committee, was co-chair of the Village Green Ad-Hoc Committee, served as the Hoffman Estates' representative on the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, and was a member of the Village's Commission for Senior Citizens. Before serving in an elected role, Michael had served as the President and founder of the homeowners association for Haverford Place; and

 

WHEREAS, Michael sadly left us on May 21st, 2023;

 

WHEREAS, Michael was so beloved among family and friends that his legacy should be memorialized and remembered; and

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and many friends of Michael Gaeta and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners sends their sincerest thanks to former Hoffman Estates Trustee Michael Gaeta and his family for his dedication to the people of Hoffman Estates; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and suitable copies be tendered to the family of former Hoffman Estates Trustee Michael Gaeta that his memory may be so honored and ever cherished.
