PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE KENNETH YOUNG CENTER’S NORTHWEST PRIDE FEST

 

WHEREAS, the LGBTQ+ Center at Kenneth Young “Q Center” provides a wide range of services devoted to creating a comforting and patient community for the LGBTQ+ population in the Northwest Suburbs and all of Cook County; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Q Center aims to guide, help and support the LGBTQ+ community and make sure they feel safe in what they feel and believe; and 

 

WHEREAS, they also provide many opportunities for young adults who seek to widen their social environment, networking jobs and careers, and guide those who seek to be more involved with the Q Center's Northwest Suburbs community network for queer professionals; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Kenneth Young Center hosts Northwest Pride Fest every year to show how much time and effort they are willing to give to ensure that they make every community they help to be comfortable in their environment and have a safe space to lean on; and 

 

WHEREAS, this year the Kennth Young Center will host their Northwest Pride Fest on June 29th from 2-7pm at the Trick-ster Cul-tur-al Cen-ter in Schaum-burg, IL; and 

 

WHEREAS, hundreds of people attend representing a diversity of races, genders, ages, and backgrounds who all come to either support or to be supported by a community that was built with the help of Kenneth Young Center; and 

 

WHEREAS, while this event emphasizes its dedication to the LGBTQ+ community, they also dedicate their time with all kinds of groups of people who seek help or support or simply want to be in a community in which they feel they won't be let down by those around them; and

 

WHEREAS, it is important that we as a whole understand that we are all human despite our differences, whether that be race, color, age, gender, or sexuality; and 

 

WHEREAS, this event is extremely devoted to making a safe space and providing lots of help to the LGBTQ+ community in the Northwest Suburbs and across Cook County; and 

 

WHEREAS, we in Cook County remain steadfast in our dedication towards building community as devoted to acceptance as the Kenneth Young Center; and 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Cook County Board of Commissioners do hereby recognize the Kenneth Young LGBTQ+ Center for all the crucial work they do every day for the LGBTQ+ population in Cook County and their upcoming Northwest Pride Fest; and 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and suitable copies be tendered to the Kenneth Young LGBTQ+ Center in recognition of their vital contributions to LBGTQ+ community in Cook County.
