Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES OF CHICAGO ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners wish to honor extraordinary events and those who celebrate them; and WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has worked tirelessly for 50 years to ensure that organizations and residents work together to enhance lives; and WHEREAS, since 1975, NHS has recognized the impact of race, income and social status on a person's housing security, and know homeownership has a foundational role to play in community development and closing the racial wealth gap; and WHEREAS, NHS teams work to stabilize and revitalize low and moderate-income communities throughout the greater Chicagoland area and suburbs to correct the inequities and end the exploitative practices that create housing insecurity; and WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has consistently highlighted the work of community leaders and ...

HONORING NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES OF CHICAGO ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY

 

WHEREAS, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners wish to honor extraordinary events and those who celebrate them; and

 

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has worked tirelessly for 50 years to ensure that organizations and residents work together to enhance lives; and

 

WHEREAS, since 1975, NHS has recognized the impact of race, income and social status on a person’s housing security, and know homeownership has a foundational role to play in community development and closing the racial wealth gap; and

 

WHEREAS, NHS teams work to stabilize and revitalize low and moderate-income communities throughout the greater Chicagoland area and suburbs to correct the inequities and end the exploitative practices that create housing insecurity; and

 

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has consistently highlighted the work of community leaders and organizations, empowering people to act so they can achieve their goals of establishing safer, more secure housing and healthier, thriving communities; and

 

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has dedicated over 50 years to fostering neighborhood success, empowerment, pride, and unity, working in collaboration with nearly 250 organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico; and

 

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has significantly contributed to advancing homeownership, financial literacy, and community investment in Chicago, ensuring that residents have access to stable and affordable housing opportunities;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, hereby proclaims March 15th, 2025, to be Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago Day and urge all citizens to participate in the activities planned by Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago in honor of this historic milestone; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, we honor and congratulate Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago on its 50th Anniversary; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and that a suitable copy be presented to Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
