PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING GLEN'S FRIENDS
WHEREAS, Glen Brown was an extraordinary embodiment of generosity, passion, humor and kindness; and
WHEREAS, amidst the vibrancy of his existence Glen faced his own battles, and after triumphing over the challenges of AIDS/HIV, he went on to give back by volunteering his time for various charities; and
WHEREAS, as an avid and experienced cyclist Glen embarked on a poignant journey in 2022, training relentlessly to join 2,000 cyclists on a mission to support AIDS research; and
WHEREAS, tragically Glen was a block away from the finish line of a 545-mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles when he fell and died in a single-bike crash on June 11, 2022; and
WHEREAS, as a way to honor Glen's memory, his sister Janet McCarthy founded Glen's Friends which has become a newly established, Arlington Heights-based 501(c) (3) organization; and
WHEREAS, Glen's Friend's mission is to nurture a world where all can love and be loved, and to wholeheartedly embrace the transformative power of love, determined to cultivate a world where every soul can experience the boundless joy of loving and being loved; and
WHEREAS, Glen's Friends has a focus of supporting the LGBTQ+ community across the Northwest suburbs through event sponsorships, volunteerism, and engagement; and
WHEREAS, Glen's Friends were a welcome part of the June 2nd Buffalo Grove Pride Parade; and
WHEREAS, Cook County continues to emphatically support those organizations and community members who work towards the advancement of inclusion, acceptance, and well-being;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby recognize Glen's Friends for its work in the community and its continual striving towards love for all; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and suitable copies be tendered to Glen's Friends in hon...
