PROPOSED RESOLUTION
THE RETIREMENT OF RALPH CZERWINSKI
WHEREAS, Ralph Czerwinski is retiring as the Village Administrator from the Village of Morton Grove on July 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Ralph has served as Village Administrator for Morton Grove since 2015; and
WHEREAS, Ralph's retirement marks the end of his 50-year career in public service; and
WHEREAS, Ralph grew up in Niles, Illinois, and started his public service career at age 16 when he became employed by the Village of Niles in their Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, Ralph joined the Morton Grove Fire Department in 1975 as a firefighter where he progressed through the ranks and served as Fire Chief from 1990 to 2003; and
WHEREAS, Ralph left the Morton Grove Fire Department to serve as Morton Grove's Village Administrator from 2003 to 2005; and
WHEREAS, Ralph returned to his firefighting roots serving as the Village of Skokie's Fire Chief from 2005 to 2015; and
WHEREAS, Ralph returned to Morton Grove to serve as its Village Administrator from 2015 until his retirement on June 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Ralph's achievements as Morton Grove's Village Administrator include negotiating a 47-year agreement to purchase water from the city of Evanston resulting in long-term stabilization of the Village's water rates, upgrading the Village's water infrastructure system, resurfacing numerous roadways throughout the Village, renovating an obsolete-26 acre shopping center at Waukegan and Dempster to a popular mixed-use center, attracting sales tax producing businesses to the Village, properly funding public safety pensions, and improving the Village's bond rating; and
WHEREAS, Ralph has been a dear mentor, friend, and colleague to countless people throughout Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Ralph's contributions to Morton Grove, Niles, Skokie, and Cook County will benefit this and future generations; and
WHEREAS, Ralph is excited to spend his retirement with family, including his wife, Michelle, his child...
