Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION HONORING MICHEAL REYNA, WINNER OF COOK COUNTY'S INAUGURAL LGBTQ+ YOUTH ART COMPETITION WHEREAS, the month of June is recognized as Pride Month, centering and celebrating the history, successes, stories, work, and ongoing issues of the LGBTQ+ community; and WHEREAS, Cook County has chosen to celebrate this occasion with an art competition for young LGBTQ+ citizens and allies of Cook County; and WHEREAS, this contest's theme was "Pride is Power" with entries intending to highlight the strength of the LGBTQ+ community against the hate and discrimination experienced by many; and WHEREAS, the winners of this competition were selected by the LGBTQ+ identifying Cook County Commissioners: Kevin Morrison, Maggie Trevor, and Anthony Quezada; and WHEREAS, the winners of this competition reflect the lived experiences of the LGBTQ+ community as expressed from their own points of view and who's work has resonated with the theme of the competition; a...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

A RESOLUTION HONORING MICHEAL REYNA, WINNER OF COOK COUNTY’S INAUGURAL LGBTQ+ YOUTH ART COMPETITION 

 

WHEREAS, the month of June is recognized as Pride Month, centering and celebrating the history, successes, stories, work, and ongoing issues of the LGBTQ+ community; and

 

WHEREAS, Cook County has chosen to celebrate this occasion with an art competition for young LGBTQ+ citizens and allies of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, this contest’s theme was “Pride is Power” with entries intending to highlight the strength of the LGBTQ+ community against the hate and discrimination experienced by many; and

 

WHEREAS, the winners of this competition were selected by the LGBTQ+ identifying Cook County Commissioners: Kevin Morrison, Maggie Trevor, and Anthony Quezada; and

 

WHEREAS, the winners of this competition reflect the lived experiences of the LGBTQ+ community as expressed from their own points of view and who’s work has resonated with the theme of the competition; and 

 

WHEREAS, Cook County’s strength is in its diversity, and the winners of this competition represent a powerful and beautiful part of the rich tapestry that is Cook Conty; and

 

WHEREAS, Micheal Reyna of Forest Park has been selected as the winner of the Cook County 2024 LGBTQ+ Youth Art Competition under 18 category for their charcoal drawing entry;

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby honor Micheal Reyna for their outstanding work; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Micheal Reyna’s entry shall be displayed hereafter in the Cook County Building; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution are presented to Micheal Reyna in recognition of this outstanding accomplishment.
