PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING NORTHLAKE ALDERWOMAN PENNY FELDMANN ON RECEIVING THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE’S LIFE SAVING AWARD
WHEREAS, Penny Feldmann grew up in Leyden Township, one block from Northlake, and attended St. John Vianney and West Leyden High Schools; and
WHEREAS, Alderwoman Feldmann is married to Paul R. Feldmann, and has two sons, Paul and Mike; and
WHEREAS, Alderwoman Feldmann was appointed as First Ward Alderwoman of the City of Northlake in 2002 and was elected for a full term in 2003; and
WHEREAS, on March 18th, 2024, a resident collapsed on the sidewalk in front of Northlake City Hall after leaving a City Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, Alderwoman Feldmann, a Certified Nurse Midwife, happened to be driving by on her way home from the meeting and jumped out of her car, immediately assessing the situation, listened for a heartbeat, and began administering lifesaving CPR; and
WHEREAS, Alderwoman Feldmann continued assisting the resident until a Northlake ambulance arrived; and
WHEREAS, due to her quick thinking and calm actions, the resident had regained consciousness by the time the ambulance arrived at the hospital and is recovering at home; and
WHEREAS, on April 1, 2024, Northlake Mayor Jefferey Sherwin presented Alderwoman Penny Feldmann with the City of Northlake’s Life Saving Award due to her swift actions in saving a resident’s life; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, do hereby honor Penny Feldmann in June of 2024 for her heroic actions.
