Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION TO DISCUSS THE STATUS OF PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN THE COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM DURING COVID-19 WHEREAS, April 23, 2020 will be the first board meeting held by the Cook County Board of Commissioners since COVID-19 Executive Orders were signed into place, and; WHEREAS, the Cook County Department of Corrections (DOC) and Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) consists of a population that are also affected by the recent Pandemic, and; WHEREAS, Sheriffs and Officers are essential workers and play a vital role within the prison system, and; WHEREAS, it's imperative that we ensure the health and safety of both our workforce and the detainees in our care at the Cook County jail, and; WHEREAS, as a governing board, we request that a representative from the Office of the Chief Judge, Cook County Health and Hospitals (CCHHS) for Cermak Hospital and Office of the Sheriff, provide the Cook County Board of Commissioners with a report on the current operati...

TO DISCUSS THE STATUS OF PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN THE COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM DURING COVID-19

 

WHEREAS, April 23, 2020 will be the first board meeting held by the Cook County Board of Commissioners since COVID-19 Executive Orders were signed into place, and;

 

WHEREAS, the Cook County Department of Corrections (DOC) and Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC) consists of a population that are also affected by the recent Pandemic, and;

 

WHEREAS, Sheriffs and Officers are essential workers and play a vital role within the prison system, and;

 

WHEREAS, it’s imperative that we ensure the health and safety of both our workforce and the detainees in our care at the Cook County jail, and;

 

WHEREAS, as a governing board, we request that a representative from the Office of the Chief Judge, Cook County Health and Hospitals (CCHHS) for Cermak Hospital and Office of the Sheriff, provide the Cook County Board of Commissioners with a report on the current operations for precautionary measures put into place during this time to ensure the safety of detainees, staff and visitors.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a representative from each respective office review and present their report to the Board of Commissioners at the April 23, 2020 Cook County Board Meeting.
