PROPOSED RESOLUTION
PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING 2IM GROUP ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, 2IM Group, LLC was founded in July 2005 by Luis Montgomery and Orhan Ulger as a two-person engineering and environmental services firm, and over the past 20 years has grown into a dynamic company of over 70 professionals, making significant contributions to infrastructure, environmental protection, and economic development across the region; and
WHEREAS, 2IM Group, LLC is a multi-disciplined firm whose services span Planning, Design, Construction Management, and Program Management, and whose areas of focus include Highways, Roads and Streets, Aviation, Rail and Transit, Facilities, and Utilities-serving both public and private sector clients with distinction; and
WHEREAS, the company’s name, 2IM was chosen to reflect the backgrounds of its founders and their shared dedication to engineering excellence: 2 for the two partners, I for Ingeniero (Spanish for Engineer), and M for Muhendis (Turkish for Engineer); and
WHEREAS, President Luis Montgomery, an alumnus of St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to education, sustainability, and innovation-earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, completing executive education at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and obtaining a certificate from the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI) through the Latino Business Action Network at the Stanford Graduate School of Business-applying this educational foundation to grow 2IM Group into a leader in stormwater design and sustainable transportation infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Orhan Ilgaz Ulger, P.E., Owner and Vice President of the organization, is an experienced Project Manager and Roadway Engineer with demonstrated expertise in the planning, analysis, and design of simple to complex drainage systems, roadway geometry, and construction details for various highway and roadway projects, and holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering from Gazi University (Gazi Üniversitesi), as well as having pursued further academic studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, 2IM Group played a groundbreaking role in 2008, when it was selected by the Illinois Tollway to lead the implementation of bioswales along the Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294)-- introducing innovative green infrastructure techniques that significantly improved water quality and removed harmful pollutants from stormwater runoff; and
WHEREAS, the firm's continued partnership with the Illinois Tollway, including its selection for multiple Move Illinois projects along the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90), has helped expand its reach and impact- accounting for more than 60 percent of its business and fueling the company’s continued growth; and
WHEREAS, 2IM Group has remained true to its mission of recognizing client priorities and delivering successful outcomes through technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and strategic vision; and
WHEREAS, the 20th Anniversary of 2IM Group represents not only a milestone of longevity but a celebration of entrepreneurship, diversity, and a commitment to building a better, more sustainable future;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners congratulate 2IM Group on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary, and recognize the outstanding achievements of its founders Luis Montgomery and Orhan Ulger, and the entire 2IM team, for their contributions to the fields of engineering, environmental services, and infrastructure development in the State of Illinois and beyond; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to 2IM Group as an expression of our admiration, appreciation, and best wishes for continued success in the years to come.
