PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

IN HONOR AND RECOGNITION OF OTIS L. STORY, SR., FACHE FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Otis L. Story, Sr., FACHE joined Cook County Government as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Office of the President in February 2020, serving as a liaison out of the Cook County Board President’s Office for Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS); and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story was appointed by the President to the CCHHS Board on April 24, 2020, serving as a member of the Finance and Managed Care Committee, advocating for policies that promote the physical, mental and social wellbeing of the residents of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story earned his Bachelor of Arts in Science Education from Cornell University, Master of Arts in Social Science from the University of Chicago, and Master of Science in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story, a healthcare executive with over forty years of healthcare experience, provided exceptional guidance to the CCHHS as the health system responded on the front lines of the pandemic; and

 

WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Story worked with his colleagues in Cook County Government develop a comprehensive mass vaccination program; and

 

WHEREAS, in collaboration with the Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) and CCHHS leadership team, Mr. Story worked to enhance the clinical services at Provident Hospital; and

 

WHEREAS, as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Story worked with CCHHS and Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) executive leadership teams to provide initial American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants to community-based organizations in the specific areas of food in security, mental health services and positive youth development programs; and

 

WHEREAS, in the Office of the President, Mr. Story worked to establish the first municipal government Medical Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) in America. Over the next year, Cook County will eliminate $1 billion in medical debt for several thousands of Cook County residents. To date, the Cook County MDRI program has provided relief to over 161,000 Cook County residents, which represents over $280 million in medical debt relief; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story’s unwavering commitment to providing safe, transparent and innovative healthcare has positively impacted the lives of thousands of individuals and families in Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story’s ability to get things done and his dedication to improving the quality of life for all residents of Cook County have earned him widespread respect and admiration; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Story’s innovative leadership, strategic vision, and tireless efforts have left a lasting mark on the Cook County Government, CCHHS and the greater Cook County community.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on behalf of the President, the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the 5.2 million residents of Cook County expresses its deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Otis L. Story, Sr., FACHE for his exceptional service to Cook County, Illinois; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the official proceedings of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and an official copy be presented to Mr. Otis L. Story Sr., FACHE as a token of the Board's appreciation and recognition of his dedicated service to Cook County.
