Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF DAVID FRANCIS CAHILL WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 surrounded by family, and WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill was born in Dromultan, Currow, County Kerry Ireland, and WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill grew up on a farm, raising prize winning Ayrshire Cattle and Landrace Pigs; and WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill moved to Chicago in September 1959 and started work the next day at People's Gas. David joined IUOE Local 399 in 1960 attaining the rank of Assistance Chief Engineer at Resurrection Hospital. He worked for bricklayers and in sewers. David started Cahill Builders, Inc. in 1972, building homes and apartment buildings across the Northwest side and Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill followed Kerry Football and rarely missed a match. He was a member of the National Greyhound Association and raced many greyhounds across the United States and Ireland, even having one of his dogs earn...

IN MEMORY OF DAVID FRANCIS CAHILL

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 surrounded by family, and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill was born in Dromultan, Currow, County Kerry Ireland, and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill grew up on a farm, raising prize winning Ayrshire Cattle and Landrace Pigs; and

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bridget Cahill (nee Malone), and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill is the adored father of Bridget A. (Dennis) Hannum, Kathleen P. (Patrick J.) Leen, and George P. (Moira) Cahill, and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill is the doting grandfather of Patrick Martin Leen, Kaitlin Leen, Bridget Leen, Brendan Leen and Francesca Cahill, and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill was the proud brother of the late Josephine Crawley, and Mary B. Cahill, and the loving son of the late George and Bridget Cahill, and

 

WHEREAS, David Francis Cahill will be remembered for his willingness to help others and for campaigning for candidates for public office.  He was tireless in work, dedication and devotion to family, and

 

WHEREAS all who knew him will attest that David Francis Cahill was a kind and compassionate man, virtuous of character and gentle in spirit, admired and respected by his many friends and neighbors, and dearly loved by his family.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby extend its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and many friends of David Francis Cahill and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss, and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and an official copy of same be presented to the family of David Francis Cahill that his memory may be so honored and ever cherished.  end
