Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION JOLEAN WASHINGTON GRAY, IN MEMORIAM WHEREAS, the golden chain of friendship has been broken with the passing of beloved, JoLean Washington Gray, on April 15, 2024; and WHEREAS, JoLean Washington Gray, an Alumna member, was inducted into the South Suburban Chicago (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated in 1994 and since dedicated her life to the principles of friendship and service; and WHEREAS, JoLean faithfully served on numerous committees, including Budget and Finance, Audit, Elections, Tellers, National Trends and Services/PADS, and Courtesy, demonstrating her unwavering commitment and exemplary leadership; and WHEREAS, even as an Alumna member, JoLean continued to uphold the tenets of the organization by volunteering her time and efforts to support Services to Youth student field trips, Health and Human Services Kidney Screenings, and the Courtesy Committee's requests to serve at repasts as needed; and WHEREAS, JoLean, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was ...

JOLEAN WASHINGTON GRAY, IN MEMORIAM

 

WHEREAS, the golden chain of friendship has been broken with the passing of beloved, JoLean Washington Gray, on April 15, 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, JoLean Washington Gray, an Alumna member, was inducted into the South Suburban Chicago (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated in 1994 and since dedicated her life to the principles of friendship and service; and

 

WHEREAS, JoLean faithfully served on numerous committees, including Budget and Finance, Audit, Elections, Tellers, National Trends and Services/PADS, and Courtesy, demonstrating her unwavering commitment and exemplary leadership; and

 

WHEREAS, even as an Alumna member, JoLean continued to uphold the tenets of the organization by volunteering her time and efforts to support Services to Youth student field trips, Health and Human Services Kidney Screenings, and the Courtesy Committee's requests to serve at repasts as needed; and

 

WHEREAS, JoLean, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was an alumna of Chicago State University and lived a full life grounded in family, friends, and service; and

 

WHEREAS, JoLean excelled professionally as a teacher and real estate professional, founding Gray Realty Group, and was an esteemed member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the South Suburban Chicago Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, and a dedicated servant on the Usher Board of Christ Universal Temple for over 30 years; and

 

WHEREAS, JoLean's legacy continues to live on through her cherished son, Bradford Jourdan Gray; sister, Denise Washington; brother, Louis Washington Jr.; grandchildren Leah, Bennett, Selena, Rachael, Olivia; and a multitude of nieces and nephews; and

 

WHEREAS, her spirit remains a guiding light in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her, her love, and her succinct words of wisdom.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and members of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County in recognition of the life and legacy of JoLean Washington Gray, express their deepest condolences to her family and loved ones, and hereby honor and celebrate her life, her service, and the profound impact she has made on the community; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of JoLean Washington as a token of our love and support, and as a testament to the profound impact of JoLean’s life.
