Title: RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE, LEGACY, AND COMMUNITY IMPACT OF LANDON ALEXANDER WALLACE WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace was born on April 12, 1989, at Westlake Community Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Lance Wallace and Venishia Watt, and was baptized at St. Stephens Evangelical Church, grounding his life in faith, family, and community; and WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace was a Chicago native whose professional and community contributions reflected leadership, entrepreneurship, and service, strengthening the cultural and civic landscape of Cook County and beyond; and WHEREAS, through his academic and extracurricular pursuits, Landon demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and leadership, including notable achievement as a student-athlete and continued personal development through higher education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and WHEREAS, while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Landon was initiated into the Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alph...

RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE, LEGACY, AND COMMUNITY IMPACT OF LANDON ALEXANDER WALLACE

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace was born on April 12, 1989, at Westlake Community Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Lance Wallace and Venishia Watt, and was baptized at St. Stephens Evangelical Church, grounding his life in faith, family, and community; and

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace was a Chicago native whose professional and community contributions reflected leadership, entrepreneurship, and service, strengthening the cultural and civic landscape of Cook County and beyond; and

 

WHEREAS, through his academic and extracurricular pursuits, Landon demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and leadership, including notable achievement as a student-athlete and continued personal development through higher education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and

 

WHEREAS, while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Landon was initiated into the Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men, joining an organization with a longstanding record of civic leadership, scholarship, and public service; and

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace applied his organizational and leadership skills to student and community programming, including large-scale event planning and cultural engagement initiatives that fostered connection, inclusion, and shared experiences; and

 

WHEREAS, professionally known as “DJ Commando,” Landon Alexander Wallace built a respected career in the entertainment industry, using his platform to contribute to cultural programming, civic events, and community engagement throughout Chicago, Cook County, and beyond; and

 

WHEREAS, beyond his professional accomplishments, Landon Alexander Wallace was known for his generosity of spirit, humility, and commitment to building community, using music as a means of connection, mentorship, inclusion, and uplifting others through his encouragement, professionalism, and willingness to share knowledge with emerging creatives; and

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace established a successful professional career by founding Landon Productions LLC, building a respected enterprise through entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustained professional excellence; and

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace’s work earned recognition and engagement with prominent media outlets and institutions, including Power 92 Radio and major professional and collegiate sports organizations such as the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Sky, Chicago Bulls, Northwestern University, and Notre Dame athletics; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2024, Landon Alexander Wallace was selected to serve as a DJ for the Democratic National Convention, held in Chicago, contributing to a nationally significant civic event and demonstrating his work on a national level that elevated Chicago and Cook County; and let it be known, his music was his gift and a powerful means of connection that brought people together across diverse communities; and

 

WHEREAS, Landon Alexander Wallace is remembered by his family, colleagues, fraternity brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., members of the Divine Nine, and the many individuals and institutions impacted by his work and service; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby honors and recognizes the life, legacy, and community impact of Landon Alexander Wallace, acknowledging his contributions to culture, entrepreneurship, leadership, and civic life, and that a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to the Wallace family, as an expression of the Board’s respect and appreciation.
