HONORING THE LIFE OF DONTAY CORPAZE THOMAS, IN MEMORIAM

 

WHEREAS, Dontay Corpaze Thomas, affectionately known as “Donnie,” was born on May 23, 1977, in Chicago, Illinois, to his loving parents Sammy and Lois Thomas; and

 

WHEREAS, Dontay began his formal education at St. John Martyr Catholic School and continued his academic journey, graduating from Thornwood High School in 1994; and

 

WHEREAS, Dontay worked diligently at NABISCO for much of his adult life, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication. Later, he pursued a fulfilling career in Home Healthcare, driven by his kind heart and caring attitude, always eager to help others; and

WHEREAS, Dontay Corpaze Thomas's legacy is marked by his kindness, humor, and the profound impact he had on those around him. His life was a testament to compassion and community spirit; and

 

WHEREAS, on June 9, 2024 Dontay's family, friends and the community experienced a great loss with his passing. May it provide solace knowing that he has joined his beloved sister Lois (Lo-Lo) Thomas who has long awaited to embrace him at heaven’s gates with love; and

 

WHEREAS, his memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who were fortunate enough to have been part of his life.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on behalf of the President, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the 5.2 million residents of Cook County, this legislative body hereby extend our heartfelt condolences and come together to honor the memory of Dontay Corpaze Thomas, celebrating his life and the joy he brought to all who knew him; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we offer our support and solidarity to Dontay 's family and loved ones during this difficult time, standing with them as they navigate the pain of their loss; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we hold Dontay 's memory in our hearts and minds, striving to emulate his kindness, compassion, and zest for life in all that we do; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution presented to Dontay 's family as a token of our enduring love and support, and that it be recorded in the annals of our community as a testament to the profound impact of Dontay 's life.
