Brown has more than 30 years of experience in business and serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations in many roles; and WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown serves as Executive Director/CEO of New Covenant Community Development Corporation (NCCDC). NCCDC is a business development center that offers classes and one on one advising for startup and existing businesses; and WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown is also Co-Founder of North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council (NLCCC) and serves as a member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Economic Development Committee. He is also the Executive Director of the North Lawndale Chamber of Commerce.; and WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown served as a Co-Director of the Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) division of the Joseph Business School for almost 10 years. CELEBRATING RODNEY D. BROWN AS AN INFLUENTIAL COMMUNITY LEADER FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown has more than 30 years of experience in business and serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations in many roles; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown serves as Executive Director/CEO of New Covenant Community Development Corporation (NCCDC). NCCDC is a business development center that offers classes and one on one advising for startup and existing businesses; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown is also Co-Founder of North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council (NLCCC) and serves as a member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Economic Development Committee. He is also the Executive Director of the North Lawndale Chamber of Commerce.; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown served as a Co-Director of the Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) division of the Joseph Business School for almost 10 years. The program was designed to meet the needs of adult students seeking to improve themselves using education as a tool to make a difference in their lives; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown’s commitment to making a difference is evidenced by his service to the community in his many roles including the Board Chair of two organizations. Currently, he serves as the Board Chair to Kids Above All. In this capacity, he developed a model program designed to help young adults get into college. He also serves as a member of the Finance and Executive committees; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown has extensive global experience, having worked and traveled in China, Korea, Japan, Mexico and Canada. His most recent corporate experience includes more than 20 years in procurement where his last position was Director of Global Procurement for a multi-billion-dollar company; and

 

WHEREAS, Rodney D. Brown’s educational background includes a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration, (major in Finance), and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration; and

 

WHEREAS,. Rodney D. Brown is a strong proponent of collaborative effort and team building. He has been recognized for his strategic accomplishments in supplier management and building supply chain relationships.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer of the 2nd County District along with the President and Cook County Board of Commissioners, and on behalf of the 5.2 million residents of Cook County do hereby celebrate Rodney D. Brown, as an influential leader in the community in which he serves this February for Black History Month: and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body and a suitable copy be presented to Rodney D. Brown as a symbol of highest esteem on this twenty-ninth day of February 2024
