PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF REV. JERRY D. MCGRAW
WHEREAS, Rev. Jerry D. McGraw, born on April 18, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, dedicated his life to faith, family, and community service; and
WHEREAS, Rev. McGraw was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving his country with honor and bravery; and
WHEREAS, he was a respected community leader, small business owner, and served over 30 years as an Operational Engineer for the City of Chicago Water Purification Plant; and
WHEREAS, Rev. McGraw’s commitment to his faith led him to become an ordained minister, impacting countless lives through his guidance and compassion; and
WHEREAS, he was a loving husband to his wife, Betty, and a devoted father and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and resilience; and
WHEREAS, Rev. McGraw’s life was marked by his dedication to service, his love for his family, and his commitment to his community; and
WHEREAS, Rev. McGraw’s life was a testament to faith, love, and unwavering strength. His presence touched so many, leaving behind a legacy of fond memories, enduring lessons, and an unshakeable impact.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that on behalf of the President, the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the 5.2 million residents of Cook County, this legislative body hereby extend our heartfelt condolences and come together to honor the memory of Rev. Jerry D. McGraw, celebrating his life, legacy and the joy he brought to all who knew him; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this body hereby honor Dr. McGraw’s legacy of strength, love, resilience and commitment to his community by amplifying the importance of service, guidance and compassion exemplified by Dr. McGraw’s life. And we celebrate the extraordinary life he lived, the compassion he showed, and the love he gave so freely; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution is presented to Jerry’s family as a token of our enduring love and support, and that it be recorded in the annals of our community as a testament to the profound impact of Jerry’s life.
