TROTTER, and WHEREAS, Bishop Larry D Trotter, rooted in faith and conviction stepped into the pulpit at just 17 years old, and Whereas For half a century, Bishop Trotter has faithfully preached the gospel of Jesus Christ and WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter's sermons are lauded for being unapologetically truth-telling, and biblically grounded. as they are not merely spoken, but they have been lived and offer life-giving hope to those steering through poverty, incarceration, grief, injustice, and seasons of doubt, and WHEREAS, As Senior Pastor of Sweet Holy Spirit Church, Bishop Trotter transformed a small congregation into a global ministry, yet his commitment has always remained local and tangible. CELEBRATING THE 50TH MINISTERIAL ANNIVERSARY OF BISHOP LARRY D. TROTTER

 

WHEREAS, on Sunday, October 19, 2025 Sweet Holy Spirit Church  of Chicago, IL will celebrate THE 50TH MINISTERIAL ANNIVERSARY OF BISHOP LARRY D. TROTTER, and

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Larry D Trotter, rooted in faith and conviction stepped into the pulpit at just 17 years old, and

Whereas For half a century, Bishop Trotter has faithfully preached the gospel of Jesus Christ and

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter’s sermons are lauded for being unapologetically truth-telling, and biblically grounded. as they are not merely spoken, but they have been lived and offer life-giving hope to those steering through poverty, incarceration, grief, injustice, and seasons of doubt, and

 

WHEREAS, As Senior Pastor of Sweet Holy Spirit Church, Bishop Trotter transformed a small congregation into a global ministry, yet his commitment has always remained local and tangible.

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter is to be applauded for his steadfast commitment to serving the needs of families and individuals throughout the Sweet Holy Spirit Church faith community from serving as a testing and vaccination site during the COVID-19 pandemic, to his tireless work against poverty and violence, and

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter’s ministry continues to embody faith in action have helped many in their individual faith journeys; and His influence has crossed six continents, ministering at international conferences and alongside global leaders. and

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Trotter has been recognized with an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity, the Dr. Clay Evans Award for Faith and Justice, and the Trailblazer in Ministry Award, and has been celebrated by Ebony and JET magazines as one of the most influential Black religious leaders in America. and 

 

WHEREAS, His gospel recordings with the Sweet Holy Spirit Combined Choir, including “Trouble Don’t Last Always” and “It’s Only A Test”, have become Sunday morning staples across churches nationwide.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, do hereby thank Bishop Larry D Trotter for his important and commendable work on behalf of our County and wishes him every continued success.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be tendered to Bishop Larry D Trotter as a token of the esteem in which he is held by the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners
