PROPOSED RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION HONORING REILLY’S DAUGHTER ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Reilly’s Daughter, located at 4010 W. 111th Street in Oak Lawn, will celebrate a milestone on June 14, 2026, 50 years as a neighborhood landmark; and
WHEREAS, Reilly’s Daughter opened its doors on June 16, 1976, by James “Boz” O’Brien; and
WHEREAS, Reilly’s Daughter has been a well-known establishment in the Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois, serving residents and visitors with exceptional food, beverages, and community spirit for fifty years; and
WHEREAS, the name of the establishment, Reilly’s Daughter, came from the Clancy Brothers’ folk song about “old Reilly’s daughter; and
WHEREAS, Reilly’s Daughter has become a gathering place for neighbors, friends and visitors, nurturing lasting friendships and creating endless memories for all who have gathered there; and
WHEREAS, the owners have had a commitment to the neighborhood and have supported local organizations, charities, and community events; and
WHEREAS, Reilly’s Daughter has hosted local celebrities, Chicago Bears players, and elected officials; and
WHEREAS, the success of Reilly’s Daughter gave them an opportunity to open a second location at Midway Airport; and
WHEREAS, the beloved Boz O’Brien passed away in January of 2026 leaving his sons, Brendan and Dan, to carry on his legacy; and
BE IT RESOLVED that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby extend its warmest wishes and congratulations to Reilly’s Daughter on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this text be spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body, and an official copy of same be presented to the O’Brien family to commemorate this joyous occasion.
