PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE LIFE & LEGACY OF
FALLEN CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER ENRIQUE MART?NEZ

WHEREAS, Police Officer Enrique Mart?nez's, life was tragically taken in the line of duty on the night of Monday, November 4, 2024, during a traffic stop; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez was born on May 24, 1998, to Adrian Mart?nez and Rosa Mayen and was raised in the West Lawn neighborhood of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Grammar School, Hubbard High School, and Harold Washington College earning his Associates Degree; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez was described as kind, thoughtful, selfless, and generous heart; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez met his fianc?e, Lesly Hern?ndez, in high school and were together for ten (10) years; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez loved his life, his family, his two German Shepherds, and his country; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez followed his brother Adrian (Mercedes) Mart?nez's Garc?a's footsteps becoming a Chicago Police Officer; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez was a two-year and ten-month veteran of the Chicago Police Department being appointed on December 27, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez served the 6th District in Gresham during his time in the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Officer Mart?nez has left a huge void in the hearts of many, including his family, friends, and a whole city. His memory will live on and will not be forgotten.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Cook County that the Board does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family of Officer Enrique Mart?nez and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss; and
