PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION HONORING THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF AURELIO'S PIZZA
WHEREAS, in August 1959, Joseph Aurelio Jr. opened the doors to his four-table Italian eatery on Ridge Road in Homewood, Illinois, with a dream of specializing in serving thin-crust pizza made from recipes that have been in the Aurelio family for generations; and
WHEREAS, this year, Joe Jr.'s son, Joe Aurelio, who is now the company's CEO, is celebrating the family's 65 years of making authentic, thin-crust pies, contributing to the community, and adding personal touches to customers' dining experiences that are both fun and delicious; and
WHEREAS, the longevity and success of Aurelio's Pizza can be directly linked to Joe's belief in using fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, and fostering relationships, making everyone feel like part of the family; and
WHEREAS, Joe Aurelio Jr. became the first pizzeria owner to franchise in 1974, expanding to 37 locations in five states, and in 1977, expanded into what is now the "largest pizzeria in the world" on Harwood Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Joe Aurelio Jr.'s commitment to community support, seen through his sponsorship of local sports teams and the well-known "baby wall" of over 5,000 photos of babies in Aurelio's onesies, has created a strong and enduring connection with the community; and
WHEREAS, Joe Aurelio Jr.'s dedication to authenticity and quality in pizza-making continues through his son, Joe Aurelio, who maintains the tradition of hand-made, fresh food at all Aurelio's locations; and
WHEREAS, Joe Aurelio, now the CEO, along with his sisters, has continued to uphold the family's standards and innovations in pizza-making, contributing to the iconic status of Aurelio's pizza with unique techniques and high-quality ingredients; and
WHEREAS, the menu of Aurelio's Pizza has remained true to its roots, with minimal changes, focusing on what they do best: thin crust, thick crust, stuffed pizza, and the Calabrese; and
