WHEREAS, Tony Parker Sr., born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1953, was a gifted athlete, devoted father, and respected mentor who used the game of basketball to inspire excellence and unity across cultures; and WHEREAS, Tony Parker Sr. attended Leo High School in Chicago, where he was a standout player who led his team to a Catholic League Championship in 1973, before continuing his education and athletic career at Loyola University Chicago; and WHEREAS, at Loyola University Chicago, Tony Parker Sr. excelled as a distinguished basketball player known for his skill, leadership, and sportsmanship, earning the admiration of teammates, coaches, and fans alike; and WHEREAS, following his collegiate career, Tony Parker Sr. played professionally in Europe, most notably in France, where he became one of the early ambassadors of American basketball abroad, helping to build bridges between U.S. and European basketball communitie...

HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF TONY PARKER SR.

WHEREAS, Tony Parker Sr., born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1953, was a gifted athlete, devoted father, and respected mentor who used the game of basketball to inspire excellence and unity across cultures; and

WHEREAS, Tony Parker Sr. attended Leo High School in Chicago, where he was a standout player who led his team to a Catholic League Championship in 1973, before continuing his education and athletic career at Loyola University Chicago; and

WHEREAS, at Loyola University Chicago, Tony Parker Sr. excelled as a distinguished basketball player known for his skill, leadership, and sportsmanship, earning the admiration of teammates, coaches, and fans alike; and

WHEREAS, following his collegiate career, Tony Parker Sr. played professionally in Europe, most notably in France, where he became one of the early ambassadors of American basketball abroad, helping to build bridges between U.S. and European basketball communities; and

WHEREAS, during his time overseas, Tony Parker Sr. met and married Pamela Firestone, and together they raised three sons - Tony, Jr., Terrence, and Pierre Parker - all of whom followed in his footsteps as basketball players, with his eldest son, Tony Parker Jr., achieving international acclaim as a four-time NBA Champion and Finals MVP with the San Antonio Spurs; and

WHEREAS, beyond his personal and professional achievements, Tony Parker Sr. was widely admired for his humility, generosity, and commitment to mentoring young athletes, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with integrity, discipline, and hard work; and

WHEREAS, Tony Parker Sr. passed away on October 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to family, sport, and community; and

WHEREAS, his influence continues to resonate not only through the accomplishments of his sons but also through the countless lives he touched as a mentor, role model, and ambassador of the game of basketball.
