PROPOSED RESOLUTION
DEATH RESOLUTION HONORING DETECTIVE ALLAN M. REDDINS
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace" 1 Peter 4:10
WHEREAS, Detective Allan M. Reddins was known for his courage, determination, charisma, and dedicated service as a police officer; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins possessed a desire for a career in law enforcement early in his academic career. He pursued postsecondary studies in Criminal Justice at Triton College and an earned bachelor’s degree from Loyola University; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins found joy in fatherhood which gave him the drive to excel in his career to build a legacy for his son, Jayden; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins fulfilled his goal to become a police officer beginning with the Metra Police then the Oak Park Police Department, both services rendered with distinction; and,
WHEREAS, he was promoted to detective in 2022 and served in this role until his untimely death; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins’ life was enriched by his son, family, close friends, and loved ones; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins departed this life November 29, 2024, in the line of duty and served faithfully until the end of watch; and,
WHEREAS, Detective Reddins will be remembered as a strong, kind, loving father, son, relative, friend, and public servant, we remember his life with But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, does hereby celebrate the life of Detective Allan M. Reddins and offer condolences to his family; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be tendered to the family as a token of the esteem held by the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
