A RESOLUTION CALLING ON THE COOK COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE TO APPEAR BEFORE THE LEGISLATION AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THE MARCH 17, 2026 ELECTION AND NEW ELECTION INITIATIVES

WHEREAS, the Cook County Clerk's Office is charged with administering elections and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process for residents of suburban Cook County; and

WHEREAS, an election was held on March 17, 2026, requiring coordination of polling places, election workers, equipment, and voter outreach efforts; and

WHEREAS, it is important that the County Board receive a comprehensive report on the administration of this election, including voter turnout, operational performance, challenges encountered, and any corrective actions taken; and

WHEREAS, the Clerk's Office continues to develop and implement new initiatives to improve election administration, including the deployment of innovative technologies such as the "LENS" system designed to monitor voter turnout and departmental operations in real time; and

WHEREAS, the County Board has an interest in understanding how such technologies are being utilized, their effectiveness, and their impact on efficiency; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners hereby calls upon the Cook County Clerk and election staff in the Clerk's Office to appear before the Board's Legislation and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk's Office shall provide an update on the March 17, 2026 election, including but not limited to voter turnout data, operational performance, resource allocation, and any issues encountered during the administration of the election; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk's Office shall brief the Committee on all new and ongoing election-related initiatives, including the implementation and use of the "LENS" technology; and
