Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING SUSAN G. KOMEN CHICAGO WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in fighting breast cancer in the Chicagoland area; and WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago has provided over $17.4 million to local organizations working to save lives and increase awareness in our communities; and WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago has provided over $5 million to research efforts meant to find a cure for breast cancer and increase the chance of survival; and WHEREAS, the work of Susan G. Komen nationally and internationally was inspired by a promise made between two sisters who grew up in Illinois, Nancy Brinker and Susan G. Komen; and WHEREAS; Susan G. HONORING SUSAN G. KOMEN CHICAGO

 

WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in fighting breast cancer in the Chicagoland area; and

 

WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago has provided over $17.4 million to local organizations working to save lives and increase awareness in our communities; and

 

WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen Chicago has provided over $5 million to research efforts meant to find a cure for breast cancer and increase the chance of survival; and

 

WHEREAS, the work of Susan G. Komen nationally and internationally was inspired by a promise made between two sisters who grew up in Illinois, Nancy Brinker and Susan G. Komen; and

 

WHEREAS; Susan G. Komen Chicago has achieved impressive results working in collaboration with other organizations to reduce the barriers faced by low-income, uninsured and minority women in accessing breast health services; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the President and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the residents of Cook County, honors and congratulates Susan G. Komen Chicago and its Board Members, staff and thousands of volunteers for its 20 years of work in fighting breast cancer and for its essential contribution to the health and viability of Cook County; and 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this text be spread upon the official proceeding of this Honorable Body, and a suitable copy of the same be tendered to Susan G. Komen Chicago.
